The Indiana Fever defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 87–78 on May 13 at Crypto.com Arena, holding off a late Sparks comeback attempt in front of the home crowd.
The Sparks were led offensively by Kelsey Plum, who finished with 25 points while providing energy and shot creation throughout the night. Plum kept Los Angeles within striking distance with aggressive drives to the basket and timely perimeter scoring as the Sparks attempted to rally in the second half.
Indiana was paced by Caitlin Clark, who scored 24 points and helped control the Fever offense for much of the game. Clark struggled shooting from beyond the arc but her playmaking and driving abilities allowed Indiana to maintain momentum during key stretches and build a lead entering the fourth quarter.
The Fever also received a major contribution from Kelsey Mitchell, who added 23 points and delivered several key baskets during important stretches of the game to help Indiana maintain its lead.
One of the bright spots for Los Angeles came from Cameron Brink, who made a major impact defensively off the bench. Brink recorded three blocks and a steal, disrupting multiple Indiana possessions with her length and rim protection. Her defensive presence helped spark the Sparks’ late push as Los Angeles attempted to climb back into the game during the final minutes.
The Sparks nearly completed the comeback after cutting into the Fever lead late in the fourth quarter, but Indiana responded with key baskets and defensive stops to secure the victory.
Despite the loss, Los Angeles showed resilience late and continued to battle throughout the night at Crypto.com Arena.
The Sparks will now turn their attention to their next matchup against the Toronto Tempo on May 15.
