LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Los Angeles Sparks snapped a six-game losing streak Saturday night, defeating the Connecticut Sun 77-68 at Crypto.com Arena.
The Sparks came out strong from the opening tip, building a double-digit advantage in the first quarter and taking a 32-22 lead into the second. Los Angeles continued to control the game through the third quarter, using efficient shooting and strong defensive pressure to maintain its advantage.
Rae Burrell led the Sparks with 20 points, shooting 8-for-13 from the field and knocking down two three-pointers. She also added three steals and three blocks in an all-around performance that helped Los Angeles establish control early.
Nneka Ogwumike recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, marking the 131st double-double of her career. Ogwumike’s performance came just days after announcing that she will retire from the WNBA following the 2026 season.
The Sparks appeared to have the game firmly in hand entering the fourth quarter after extending their lead to 22 points. Connecticut, however, mounted a late comeback attempt, cutting into the deficit with a 13-0 run. Los Angeles went scoreless for the final 6:12 of the game, but its early cushion proved enough to secure the victory.
The win moves Los Angeles to 13-24 on the season and gives the Sparks a much-needed victory following six consecutive losses. Connecticut falls to 9-27 with the loss.
For the Sparks, the victory provided a positive moment during a difficult stretch of the season, while also highlighting a balanced offensive effort and strong start that ultimately gave Los Angeles enough separation to hold off Connecticut’s late push.
