Reus and Taylor Lead Galaxy to Victory Over New England

LA Galaxy earned a 2-1 victory over New England Revolution at Dignity Health Sports Park in a special night for Sergi Roberto, who made his first appearance at the stadium as a Galaxy player.

The home side struck early. Kyogo Furuhashi drew a penalty, which Marco Reus calmly converted in the 11th minute to give Galaxy a 1-0 lead. Galaxy continued to control the match and doubled its advantage in the 33rd minute following a well-executed team move, with the ball moving through the Galaxy attack before R. Taylor finished the play to make it 2-0 heading into halftime.

The second half saw the tempo drop considerably, with Marco Reus, Sergi Roberto and “Chucky” Lozano playing key roles in helping Galaxy manage the pace and control the flow of the match. New England, however, created the two most dangerous chances of the half, with two shots crashing off the posts and narrowly avoiding a comeback.

The tension peaked in stoppage time when New England was awarded a penalty. Carles Gil converted from the spot in the 90+6th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1 and set up a tense finish. Galaxy held firm through the final moments, surviving the late pressure to secure all three points in front of its home crowd.
