Giant Sunday in LA: Rams Visit Raiders, LAFC Hosts Galaxy in El Tráfico

Sunday, October 25 is shaping up as a giant day for Los Angeles sports. Within five hours, the city gets two blockbuster games: at 1:25 p.m. PT the Los Angeles Rams (2-4) visit the Las Vegas Raiders (3-3) at Allegiant Stadium in NFL Week 7, live on FOX; then at 6:00 p.m. PT, LAFC hosts the LA Galaxy in the 28th edition of El Tráfico at BMO Stadium, live on Apple TV’s Sunday Night Soccer.

The Rams arrive in the desert desperate. Matthew Stafford leads the NFL in passing yards (1,794) with 11 touchdowns, and with Puka Nacua (37 catches, 417 yards) and Kyren Williams (393 rushing yards) the offense moves the ball — Los Angeles averages 401.3 yards per game — but the points haven’t followed: just 22.5 per game. Back-to-back losses, 37-34 in overtime to Buffalo and a painful 18-16 defeat to Arizona in which the Cardinals never scored a touchdown, have the Rams at 2-4. It gets harder without Davante Adams and Poona Ford, both on injured reserve.

The Raiders (3-3), losers of three straight including a 33-30 heartbreaker to Buffalo, counter with Kirk Cousins (1,582 yards, 14 touchdowns), Ashton Jeanty and tight end Brock Bowers (28 catches, 382 yards). The last meeting, in October 2024 at SoFi Stadium, ended 20-15 for the Rams behind two Kyren Williams touchdowns and two Jaylen McCollough interceptions.

Back home, the stakes are just as high. LAFC and the Galaxy meet for the 28th El Tráfico with the all-time series dead even: 10 wins apiece and 7 draws in 27 meetings across all competitions. LAFC took the last one 3-0 in Carson on July 17 — Mark Delgado opened the scoring, Denis Bouanga converted a penalty, his seventh straight derby with a goal (a rivalry record), and Son Heung-min sealed it on his El Tráfico debut.

LAFC (12-9-10, 46 points) sits sixth in the Western Conference and locks up an Audi MLS Cup Playoffs berth with a win or a draw on Sunday, while the Galaxy (10-11-10, 40 points) sits eighth, holding the first Wild Card spot with no margin for error.

The star power is undeniable. Son (7 goals, 15 assists — tied with Lionel Messi for the MLS lead in assists) and Bouanga (17 goals, 9 assists, three short of a record fourth straight 20-goal season) lead LAFC, with Hugo Lloris’ 12 clean sheets anchoring the back. The Galaxy answer with Marco Reus (8 goals, 12 assists, a team-best 20 goal contributions), João Klauss and Erik Thommy — both scorers in last week’s 2-2 draw with San Diego — plus Joseph Paintsil’s pace on the wing.

Two kickoffs, two leagues, one unforgettable Sunday. Rams-Raiders at 1:25 p.m. PT on FOX from Allegiant Stadium, then El Tráfico at 6:00 p.m. PT on Apple TV from BMO Stadium. Los Angeles, buckle up.
