LA Galaxy suffered their second consecutive home defeat, falling 3-1 to St. Louis CITY SC in a match that once again exposed the club’s offensive struggles. The first half featured few scoring opportunities for either side, but just as the Galaxy began to push forward, St. Louis capitalized on their chances. Lucas MacNaughton opened the scoring in the 42nd minute before Marcel Hartel doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time (45+1’), sending the visitors into the break with a commanding 2-0 advantage.
The second half brought little improvement for the Galaxy, who struggled to maintain possession and lost a key attacking presence after Marco Reus was forced off with an unexpected injury. The frustration continued to build, and defender Emiro Garcés received a second yellow card for a tactical foul, leaving the home side with 10 men. St. Louis quickly took advantage, as Simon Becher found the net in the 68th minute to extend the lead to 3-0.
Harbor Elgersma gave LA Galaxy fans a glimmer of hope with a goal in the 86th minute, but the late strike proved to be nothing more than a consolation. Despite the late effort, the Galaxy never looked capable of mounting a comeback, while St. Louis CITY SC secured an impressive road victory with an organized and clinical performance.
