Clippers Fall Short to Warriors 121-126 in Play-in, Eliminated From Postseason Contention

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Los Angeles Clippers fell to the Golden State Warriors, 121-126, in the first Western Conference Play-In game Wednesday night at Intuit Dome, bringing their season to an end. In a game defined by back and forth lead changes, the Warriors came out with the win as the Clippers committed costly turnovers in the final possessions of the game. Although Los Angeles fought to be in a position to contend for the 8th-seed, the Clippers turbulent season finally comes to an end.

Although Bennedict Mathurin led the team with 23 points supported by Kawhi Leonard and Darius Garland with 21 points each, it simply was not enough for this championship experienced Warriors team. Steph Curry spoiled any playoff aspirations for the Clippers, recording 35 points, 4 assists shooting 12-23 from the field and 7-12 from beyond the arc putting an end to the Clippers season.

The Clippers rollercoaster season has reached its final stop. While their 42-40 record is a testament to a resilient mid-season turnaround, it remains a disappointment for an organization with playoff aspirations—especially after a disastrous 6-21 opening stretch left them with no margin for error. On the other side, the Warriors advance in the Play-In Tournament facing the Suns in Phoenix Friday April 17. Los Angeles turns its focus toward an offseason filled with evaluation and potential adjustments. Early-season inconsistencies and injuries created challenges for the Clippers in establishing rhythm, and those struggles ultimately proved costly down the stretch.

Still, the season offered glimpses of the team’s evolving core, particularly with the addition of Darius Garland and Benedict Mathurin, both of whom are expected to play significant roles next season. As the franchise looks to rebuild its identity, the Clippers are expected to remain centered around Kawhi Leonard, with an emphasis on building a more consistent and durable roster capable of competing deep into the postseason.
