It wasn’t a afternoon for goals, but it was definitely a afternoon for resilience.
Loudoun United FC battled to a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Miami FC at SEGRA Field, in a match defined by defensive discipline, goalkeeping heroics, and physical play from both sides.
Miami came out aggressive early, testing Loudoun’s back line within the opening minutes. In the 7th minute, forward Jürgen Locadia found space and fired a shot on target that looked destined for the net, but Loudoun goalkeeper Adam Beaudry came up big with a sharp reaction save to keep the match level. That moment set the tone for what would become a standout performance from the young keeper.
Loudoun responded midway through the first half with one of their best chances of the night. In the 23rd minute, Sean Young attempted a clever chip from outside the box, catching the Miami defense off guard. However, Miami goalkeeper Eloy Room stayed composed and secured the effort cleanly, denying Loudoun an early breakthrough.
The second half followed a similar script, with Miami pressing forward and Loudoun relying on their defensive structure and goalkeeper to hold firm. One of the key moments came when Miami’s Tommy Musto unleashed a low-driven shot from distance aimed at the bottom left corner. Once again, Beaudry stepped up, making an impressive stop to preserve the clean sheet.
Statistically, the match leaned in Miami’s favor in terms of attacking output. They registered 18 total shots, with 11 on target, compared to Loudoun’s 13 attempts and 3 shots on goal. Despite that pressure, Loudoun controlled more of the ball, finishing with 56.9% possession to Miami’s 43.1%.
The physicality of the match was evident throughout. Miami FC picked up 2 yellow cards and committed 16 fouls, while Loudoun United FC saw 5 players booked alongside 15 fouls. It was a stop-start battle at times, but one that showcased the intensity both teams brought to the pitch.
Ultimately, the story of the night belongs to Adam Beaudry. With 10 saves, he was the difference-maker, standing tall under constant pressure and securing a valuable clean sheet for Loudoun. Miami’s Eloy Room, while less tested, contributed with 3 saves to keep his side level.
Loudoun United FC will now shift focus to their next matchup as they travel to face Tampa Bay Rowdies FC on March 28th at 7:30 PM at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida.
