Los Angeles, CA — September 7, 2025
Cal State Fullerton’s women’s soccer team delivered a statement performance at Sullivan Field, defeating Loyola Marymount University (LMU) 3–0 behind a brace from Camryn Cruz and a late strike from Isabella Contreras.
The Lions came out of the gates with urgency, pressing high and creating early chances that kept the Titans on the defensive for the opening 15 minutes. LMU’s aggressive start energized the home crowd, but it also left space for Fullerton to exploit once they settled into rhythm.
That shift came midway through the first half. Cruz pounced on a through ball and calmly finished past the LMU keeper to put the Titans ahead 1–0. From that moment, the tone of the match changed. Fullerton began to dominate possession, moving the ball with confidence and forcing the Lions into chasing.
Cruz doubled her tally early in the second half with a precise strike from the edge of the box, extending the Titans’ lead to 2–0 and dampening LMU’s hopes of a comeback. Fullerton continued to control tempo, pressing intelligently and denying LMU clear opportunities to get back in the game.
The night was capped off when Contreras sealed the result with a well-placed finish in the final minutes, sparking celebrations on the Fullerton sideline.
With the victory, Cal State Fullerton not only secured a commanding road win but also showcased the depth and quality of their attack. For LMU, the loss was a tough blow after a promising start, underscoring the importance of converting early momentum into goals.
