MANSFIELD, Texas — FC Dallas was defeated 2-1 by Orlando City SC in a summer friendly Wednesday night at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium.
The match marked FC Dallas’ first appearance at the newly opened venue and the club’s first-ever match in Mansfield, bringing Major League Soccer action to the city during a historic summer for the sport in North Texas.
Orlando City opened the scoring through Antoine Griezmann, as the French forward gave the Lions the first advantage of the night. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner was one of the match’s main attractions after joining Orlando City from Atlético Madrid ahead of the second half of the MLS season.
FC Dallas also found the back of the net but was unable to earn an equalizer before the final whistle. Orlando held on to secure the 2-1 victory and conclude its preparations for the return of MLS competition
Although the friendly did not count toward the regular-season standings, the evening represented an important milestone for FC Dallas and the growing soccer community in Mansfield. It also allowed both clubs to return to the field and regain match fitness following the league’s break for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
FC Dallas will resume its MLS regular-season campaign on Wednesday, July 22, when the club travels to Portland to face the Portland Timbers at Providence Park.
