The South Bay Lakers secured a solid 111–98 victory over the Grand Rapids Gold in tonight’s NBA G League matchup. The Los Angeles affiliate made the difference with more efficient offense (48% from the field compared to 41%) and clear dominance in the paint, where they scored 50 points.
Despite a competitive start, the Gold couldn’t keep up the pace. South Bay controlled most of the game, leading for 79% of the time and building a lead as large as 19 points. They also took better care of the ball, committing just 8 turnovers compared to Grand Rapids’ 14, while making a stronger defensive impact with 11 steals.
Grand Rapids tried to stay in the game with their three-point shooting (16 made threes), but it wasn’t enough against the Lakers’ consistency. The home team also stood out in transition and ball movement, finishing with 24 assists and a more complete performance on both ends of the floor.
