- LOUIS (AP) — The United States’ youth movement continued to make its mark Tuesday night.
The Americans defeated Chile 4-2 at Energizer Park, with young forwards Julian Hall and Mathis Albert providing two of the biggest moments in a match that showcased the emerging generation of U.S. soccer.
Hall, an 18-year-old forward making his first start for the senior national team, scored in the 51st minute to pull the United States level at 2-2. He rose to meet a cross from Gio Reyna and directed a glancing header toward the near post.
It was Hall’s second goal in as many appearances for the national team. He became the youngest U.S. player to score in consecutive matches, continuing an impressive start to his international career.
Julian Hall, an 18-year-old forward from Red Bull New York, continued his impressive debut with the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) by scoring in his second consecutive match, helping secure a 4-2 victory over Chile. Hall, who made his first start for the national team in St. Louis, netted a crucial header in the 51st minute to equalize the match.
This achievement makes him the youngest player in USMNT history to score in back-to-back games and one of only 13 players to score in their first two senior appearances. In addition to his goal, Hall played a key role in the team’s first score by setting up Sebastian Berhalter with a clever dummy. Hall entered the international window with momentum after scoring the winning goal for Red Bull New York against NYCFC. He has recorded 10 goals and five assists in the MLS season under the guidance of first-year head coach
Michael Bradley, whom Hall credits for supporting his development along with teammate Adri Mehmeti. Hall expressed gratitude for the opportunity and support he’s received, emphasizing the influence of his teammates and coach on his early success.
