INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Los Angeles Clippers fell to the Philadelphia 76ers 128-113 despite competitive stretches throughout the night. Entering this matchup with increased confidence following Kawhi Leonard’s recent performances, Los Angeles struggled to close late as Philadelphia executed down the stretch, with the spotlight on Intuit Dome as it prepares to host NBA All-Star Week from Feb. 13–15.
Philadelphia shared the offensive load in scoring with Tyrese Maxey leading the way with 30pts followed by 26pts from Dominick Barlow and 24pts from Joel Embiid. Additionally, the 76ers found success beyond the arc shooting 17 of 39 (44%), while the Clippers finished only 9 of 26 (35%) on the night. Free-throws were also a key to this game as the 76ers shot 21 of 22 (95%) in contrast to the Clippers who shot 12 of 20 (60%).
With the loss, the Clippers move to 23–26 on the season as they regroup ahead of their next game at home Wednesday Feb.4 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. As Los Angeles prepares for the global attention of hosting NBA All-Star Week from Feb. 13–15, the Clippers will look to sharpen execution and build consistency moving forward, with added intrigue surrounding reports of James Harden potentially being involved in trade discussions ahead of the deadline.
