Clippers Fall Short Again: Strong Start Fades in 112–107 Loss to Grizzlies

The Los Angeles Clippers once again let a comfortable early lead slip away, falling 112–107 at home to the Memphis Grizzlies in NBA Cup play. Despite controlling the first half with dominant offense and clean execution, the Clippers couldn’t maintain their rhythm, allowing a shorthanded Memphis squad to outwork and outplay them in the final two quarters.

Both teams were already eliminated from NBA Cup contention, but for the Clippers who have struggled to find consistency all season this loss still felt costly.

Memphis Outworks L.A. in the Second Half

Even without Ja Morant, the Grizzlies showed their trademark toughness. What they lacked in star power, they made up for in effort, defensive energy, and timely scoring. Memphis tightened their defense in the third quarter, forcing Clippers turnovers, winning loose balls, and finding offense from role players who stepped up when it mattered.

The Clippers’ early ball movement evaporated, their defense softened, and their late-game execution an issue all season failed them once again.

With Kawhi healthy again, the Clippers have the star power to turn things around. But until they learn to protect leads and finish games, their talent alone won’t be enough. The blueprint for success is there—they just need discipline and chemistry to match it.

Adding another storyline to the night, veteran point guard Chris Paul is expected to play his final NBA season, marking the end of a Hall of Fame–worthy career.
