Jacob Misiorowski to Start World Series Game 1 as Brewers Open First Fall Classic Since 1982

The Milwaukee Brewers made it official Tuesday: 24-year-old Jacob Misiorowski will start Game 1 of the World Series on Friday, October 23, when Milwaukee plays its first Fall Classic game since 1982.

It is a zero-surprise call. Misiorowski, the heavy favorite to win the 2026 National League Cy Young Award next month, opened the season on Opening Day and has taken the ball for Game 1 of every round so far — the NL Division Series against the San Diego Padres and the NL Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has led the Brewers’ rotation all season, and it would not make sense for it to be anyone else.

Tampa Bay has not announced its Game 1 starter, but all signs point to Drew Rasmussen. The right-hander opened both the AL Division Series and the AL Championship Series for the Rays and owns a 1.29 ERA with a 23-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 21 postseason innings.

Game 1 is set for Friday at American Family Field in Milwaukee — 44 years after the Brewers’ last World Series game.
