SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose Earthquakes defeated Houston Dynamo FC 1–0 on Saturday night at PayPal Park, extending their unbeaten run in MLS play.
Daniel Munie scored the decisive goal in the 38th minute, finishing a play created after a corner kick. The goal was his fifth of the season, setting a new Earthquakes single-season record for goals by a defender.
Gunn Preserves the Lead
Houston pushed for an equalizer in the second half, but goalkeeper Angus Gunn made several important saves late in the match to preserve the clean sheet and the victory for San Jose.
Gui Santos Highlights Brazilian Heritage Night
The night also featured a special Brazilian presence. Golden State Warriors forward Gui Santos attended the match as part of Brazilian Heritage Night, adding a crossover moment between basketball, soccer and the Bay Area’s Brazilian community.
With the win, San Jose continued its strong run and moved up the Western Conference standings as the team prepares for its next matchup against LAFC.
