In front of a record-breaking crowd of 75,673—the highest-attended opening weekend game in MLS history and the second-highest single-game attendance ever in the league—LAFC delivered a commanding performance that sent a clear message: the Black & Gold are serious contenders.
The matchup pitted two of MLS’s biggest stars against each other: LAFC’s new signing Son Heung-min versus Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi. While Messi provided flashes of brilliance, LAFC’s organized defense—anchored by goalkeeper Hugo Lloris‘ clean sheet—stifled Miami throughout, limiting them to just three shots on target.
