The Los Angeles Lakers saw their six-game winning streak come to an abrupt end on Monday night, falling 125–108 to the Phoenix Suns at Crypto.com Arena. From the opening tip, it was clear the Lakers weren’t as sharp defensively as they had been during their recent stretch of strong play—and Phoenix took full advantage.
Dillon Brooks delivered one of the most inspired performances of his season, erupting for 33 points and setting the tone for the Suns on both ends of the floor. Brooks’ confidence and relentless shot-making energized Phoenix throughout the night, punishing every defensive lapse the Lakers offered.
Adding to the Lakers’ struggles, Luka Dončić put on an offensive clinic. He finished with 38 points despite not playing a single minute in the fourth quarter, having already done more than enough damage through three quarters. His effortless scoring, pace control, and ability to create mismatches overwhelmed a Lakers defense that never found its rhythm.
For Los Angeles, the lone historical bright spot came from LeBron James, who recorded 10 points—just enough to extend his streak of scoring 10 or more points in every game of his 21-year career. While the milestone continued, his impact wasn’t enough to elevate a team that looked sluggish and disconnected on the defensive end.
The Lakers’ effort defensively was simply not there tonight. Rotations lagged, closeouts were slow, and Phoenix consistently found open looks. Whether it was fatigue from the winning streak or a lack of urgency, Los Angeles couldn’t match the Suns’ energy and execution.
With the streak now snapped, the Lakers will look to regroup, refocus on the defensive end, and bounce back quickly as they continue their push through the Western Conference grind.
