Galaxy Fall 3-2 to FC Cincinnati, Eliminated from MLS Playoffs

First-Half Struggles

Cincinnati stunned the home crowd early. Ender Jesús Echenique broke through Galaxy’s backline with a composed finish to open the scoring, and Brazilian striker Brenner doubled the lead before halftime. LA went into the break trailing 2-0, with frustration mounting in the stands.

The Fightback

The Galaxy showed fight after halftime. Joseph Paintsil pulled one back with a sharp strike that reignited the atmosphere at Dignity Health Sports Park. But Cincinnati quickly answered again — this time through a slick attacking sequence finished off by Brenner, who bagged his second of the night to make it 3-1.

Mauricio Cuevas gave the hosts hope with a late goal, cutting the deficit to 3-2. The Galaxy threw everything forward in the final minutes, but the equalizer never came.

End of the Road

The loss means the five-time MLS Cup champions will not feature in the 2025 playoffs. For LA, the elimination stings deeply after flashes of brilliance from Paintsil and Cuevas, but defensive lapses and missed chances proved costly.

As Cincinnati celebrated a statement road win behind Echenique and Brenner’s heroics, the Galaxy were left to reflect on a season that fell short. The focus now turns to 2026, where the club will aim to rebuild and reclaim its place among MLS contenders.
