The South Bay Lakers improved to 2–0 on the season with a 123–113 victory over the Valley Suns on November 9, 2025. It was an up-tempo matchup that saw South Bay dominate the middle portions of the game before holding off a late Suns rally.
The opening quarter was closely contested, with the Lakers holding a slim 25–21 edge. South Bay then exploded in the second quarter, outscoring the Suns 45–28 behind efficient perimeter shooting and fast-break execution. That offensive surge gave them a comfortable halftime cushion and ultimately proved to be the difference in the game.
Valley battled back in the second half, cutting into the deficit with a strong third quarter (31–22) and another offensive push in the final frame. Despite outscoring South Bay in both quarters, the Suns couldn’t fully erase the gap created in the second.
Chris Manon led the way for South Bay with a stellar 31-point performance on 9-of-16 shooting, including a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. The Lakers also benefited from their efficiency beyond the arc, hitting 39 percent of their threes compared to just 27 percent for the Suns. While Valley held the rebounding advantage 45–38, their 17 turnovers and inconsistent shooting prevented them from sustaining momentum.
Koby Brea paced the Suns with 26 points, doing his best to keep his team within striking distance. However, the Lakers’ balanced attack and ability to control tempo in key stretches sealed the win.
With the victory, South Bay stays unbeaten early in the season, while the Valley Suns drop to 0–2 and continue to search for their first win.
