EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — The South Bay Lakers secured a nail-biting home victory over the San Diego Clippers on Tuesday night at UCLA Health Training Center, 115-120. After dropping back-to-back games in Cedar Park, Texas — falling 99–111 on Jan. 9 and narrowly 106–107 on Jan. 10 against the Austin Spurs — South Bay carried a renewed sense of urgency into tonight’s matchup, controlling the tempo early and never looking back.
Drew Timme led the way for South Bay with a standout performance, finishing with 31pts, 11reb, and 4ast. Timme’s ability to score and facilitate for South Bay against multiple matchups proved pivotal as the game came down to the wire. Additional contributions from RJ Davis, Kobe Bufkin, and Arthur Kaluma keep the Lakers in control, as South Bay’s balanced scoring and key defensive stops down the stretch prevented San Diego from mounting a sustained comeback.
With the win, the South Bay Lakers improve to 5-3 on the season continuing to build momentum as the schedule progresses. South Bay will look to carry that confidence into their next matchup against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Jan. 17.
