South Bay Lakers Bounce Back with 30-Point Win Over Mexico City Capitanes

South Bay Lakers and the Mexico City Capitanes faced each other once again, on January 24th, 2026. South Bay Lakers fans were anticipating this meeting after the G-League Lakers fell short during their previous meeting, losing 113-123. 

The starting lineup for the South Bay Lakers consisted of:

  • – R.J. Davis
  • – Chris Mañon
  • – Kylor Kelley
  • – Luke Goode
  • – Anton Watson. 

The Mexico City Capitanes had a solid lineup; the same lineup that began their victory 2 days ago against South Bay Lakers with:

  • – Ahmad Caver
  • – Boo Blue
  • – James Bouknight
  • – RJ Meléndez
  • – Tomás Chapero. 

It started off as a close game, with the South Bay Lakers leading by 12 points in the 1st quarter. Throughout the game, the South Bay Lakers held a lead on the Mexico City Capitanes by 20 and sometimes 30 points. 

Ultimately taking the game, the South Bay Lakers won this rematch, 125-95; dominating with a 30-point win. 

Arthur Kaluma (#47) was called Player of The Game, contributing 25 points, a 9/10 FG ratio, and scoring 6/7 3-pointers.

 

South Bay Lakers’ 2nd Player of The Game, Luke Goode (#21) contributed 23 points, secured 8 out of 15 FG, and scored 6/10 3-pointers. 

Honorable Mention: 

The South Bay Lakers’ were repping a D-Fenders jersey for their D-FENDERS NIGHT. Fans were gifted a jersey, and there was a display of many honorable Lakers legends throughout the UCLA Health Training Center.
