EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — The South Bay Lakers delivered an energetic and confident performance Thursday night, defeating the Salt Lake City Stars 125–118 in a high-paced matchup that showcased offensive firepower and control from start to finish.
Leading the way for South Bay was Sean East II, who poured in a game-high 29 points, setting the tone with aggressive drives and timely shooting. Max Abmas followed closely behind with 27 points, providing a steady scoring presence and helping keep the Stars at bay whenever momentum threatened to shift.
From the opening tip, the South Bay Lakers asserted themselves on both ends of the floor. Their offensive rhythm and defensive intensity allowed them to build separation early, and they never looked back. Ball movement, transition scoring, and disciplined execution helped South Bay maintain control throughout the contest, even as Salt Lake City attempted late-game pushes.
The Stars showed resilience down the stretch, but South Bay’s composure and scoring depth proved too much to overcome, sealing a well-earned victory in front of the home crowd.
The two teams won’t have to wait long for a rematch. The South Bay Lakers will face the Salt Lake City Stars again on Saturday, January 31st, at the UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo, setting the stage for another competitive showdown.
