Desmond Bane put on a scoring clinic Sunday night, pouring in 36 points to lift the Orlando Magic to a dramatic 111–109 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers at the Intuit Dome. Bane was efficient throughout, going 13-of-19 from the field, and made key plays down the stretch to secure the tight win.
Bane’s performance was the difference in a game that featured multiple lead changes and late drama. Orlando built a narrow lead early and held firm thanks to Bane’s scoring and timely baskets in crunch time.
Paolo Banchero provided a strong all-around effort with 16 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, while Wendell Carter Jr. dominated inside with a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double. Tristan da Silva chipped in 13 points and Anthony Black added 11 to help balance the Magic’s attack.
Paolo Banchero once again showcased his versatility, finishing with 16 points, eight assists and seven rebounds while serving as the offense’s primary facilitator in key stretches. Banchero controlled the tempo when the game tightened in the fourth quarter, drawing defensive attention and consistently finding open shooters on the perimeter. His poise under pressure allowed Orlando to stay organized late.
Inside, Wendell Carter Jr. imposed his presence with a physical 15-point, 14-rebound double-double. Carter battled on the glass all night, creating second-chance opportunities and anchoring the paint defensively against the Clippers’ frontcourt. Rookie forward Tristan da Silva added 13 timely points, including a pair of momentum-swinging baskets in the second half, while Anthony Black contributed 11 points and strong perimeter defense. The balanced scoring proved crucial, preventing Los Angeles from overloading defensively on Bane down the stretch.
For Los Angeles, Kawhi Leonard delivered a vintage performance in defeat. The All-Star forward poured in 37 points and grabbed eight rebounds, attacking mismatches in isolation and knocking down contested midrange shots that kept the Clippers within striking distance. Leonard extended his streak of 20-plus-point games and nearly willed his team to victory with clutch baskets in the final minutes.
Both teams shot an identical 48.2 percent from the field, underscoring how evenly matched the contest was statistically. The difference ultimately came in late-game execution and efficiency, with Orlando capitalizing on key possessions behind Bane’s elite shot-making and disciplined ball movement.
With the victory, the Orlando Magic continue building momentum in the Eastern Conference playoff race, showing resilience on the road in a hostile environment. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers dropped their second straight game, a tough setback in a tightly packed Western Conference standings picture. Despite the loss, the Clippers demonstrated they remain dangerous when Leonard is in rhythm — but Sunday night, they were just one shot short in a back-and-forth thriller.
