INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Los Angeles Clippers couldn’t keep up with a red-hot Denver Nuggets squad on Tuesday night, falling 130–116 at the Intuit Dome. The story of the night was Nikola Jokić — and it wasn’t even close.
The two-time MVP delivered one of the most dominant performances of his career, torching the Clippers for 55 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists. What truly set the tone, though, was his 25-point first quarter, a jaw-dropping start that left the Clippers stunned and Denver in full control from the opening tip.
A First-Quarter Masterclass
From the very first possession, Jokić imposed his will. Whether it was posting up, hitting soft-touch floaters, or burying mid-range jumpers, the Serbian center was unstoppable. His 25 first-quarter points marked one of the most explosive openings by any player this season and immediately silenced the Inglewood crowd.
The Nuggets built a double-digit lead early and never looked back. Jokić orchestrated the offense like a maestro, punishing every defensive coverage the Clippers threw at him.
Clippers’ Offense Can’t Match the Surge
Los Angeles tried to respond behind their All-Star duo, but the offense never found consistent rhythm. Despite solid stretches in the second and third quarters, the Clippers couldn’t overcome the hole Jokić had dug for them.
The team’s defensive rotations struggled to contain Denver’s ball movement, and when they doubled Jokić, he effortlessly found open teammates. Even with flashes of energy from the bench, the Clippers never truly threatened to close the gap.
